Founded by Bernard Kinder, a former Air Force member, Kinder's Insurance Agency LTD began its humble beginnings in the world of Life Insurance. On November 16, 1978, Mr. Kinder took the bold step of establishing his own agency, operating from his home on County Road 1 in South Point, Ohio.
As our agency grew, so did our aspirations. In 1980, we relocated to the village of South Point, expanding into an office space large enough to occupy the garage. This expansion allowed us to hire a dedicated secretary, enhancing our ability to provide exceptional service to our valued clients.
In 1986, a pivotal moment in our history occurred when Kinder's Insurance moved to its own location in Ironton, Ohio. Mr. Kinder played a crucial role in initiating the first self-insurance program in the State of Ohio, specifically designed for county governments. This milestone marked our agency's commitment to innovation and our dedication to serving the unique needs of our clients.
The year 1992 witnessed a significant addition to our team, as Mr. Kinder's daughter, Kristi Kinder McComas, joined the agency full time. Kristi's expertise and passion for the industry enabled us to expand our focus on personal lines, further strengthening our ability to provide comprehensive coverage tailored to your individual needs.
In 1994, Ray McComas, now a vital member of our team, joined the office full time. Ray's specialization extended beyond county governments, allowing us to broaden our services to encompass all other public entities. This expansion solidified our position as a trusted insurance partner for a diverse range of clients.
In 2015, after decades of dedication and leadership, Mr. Kinder retired, leaving behind a legacy of exceptional service and unwavering commitment to our clients.
Fast forward to 2016, a new chapter began as Kristi and Ray McComas assumed ownership of Kinder's Insurance Agency LTD. Building upon the strong foundation laid by Mr. Kinder, we continued to expand our expertise in personal lines, commercial lines, and Governmental Insurance. Today, we proudly serve over 1,000 policies, providing comprehensive coverage and peace of mind to our valued clients.
